BabyGoods

Munchkin Sprout Drying Rack

Dr. Brown's Bottle Warmer
As a soon-to-be mommy, I can't help myself when it comes to getting things for our little darling.  And I mean clothes, items to make Daddy's and my life easier, necessities, and fun stuff for baby- anything and everything baby.  Last week I ordered a countertop drying rack for baby bottles and eventually utentsils.  Plus, it's green, so it will match our citrus-themed kitchen decor.  I also ordered, Dr. Brown's Bottle Warmer by recommendation from a couple of our new parent friends.  We know we won't be making bottles for at least a few weeks to a month, but then I plan on pumping and storing to let Daddy and the eventual babysitters feed her.  As I hope everyone knows, breastmilk cannot be microwaved (formula shouldn't either because it creates hot spots)and warming milk by running hot water over a bottle can be time consuming.  Can't wait to try it out for ourselves!
Today I ordered from Amazon the next two baby/kid journals by Amy Krouse Rosenthal that follow "The Belly Book" which was given to me by Jessica (and I have loved it!!).  "My Baby Book" covers those "firsts" over a baby's first year of life, while "Your Birthday Book" covers years 1-18 of birthdays, milestones, and keepsakes.  I can't wait to get started!  It's a super-easy, fun, and organized way to keep everything recorded for our child to have one day.  Yay!

Let's Go Let's Go- L e t s g o!

Still nothing.  Waiting, and nothing is happening.  I'm still dilated 1cm, but the doc did say the stages of dilation can progress unexpectedly and very quickly.  That's hopeful.  Holly is moving all around, but she hasn't engaged her head yet.  The doc said she could feel her head, but it's not locked in place for delivery yet....she knows because when the doc tapped her little baby head, she moved up and down.  Darn.  We tried walking and nothing happened except my body felt like I had just run a marathon afterwards when we got home and I had been sitting for a little bit.  Poo.  I asked the doc what I can do, and she told me a few of those Old Wives Tales, like eating Chinese because of MSG, pizza, or just plain eating or having "intercourse"* or walking.  Zach and I decided that doing all three at once is not possible, but I think I'll just stick with the walking, and lots of it.  I would try squats or lunges, but I don't know if I could get back up after moving into the down position- unassisted anyway.  I would try spicy foods, but then I would just be miserable while plagued with raging heartburn, and most likely still pregnant.  I think I'll just clean our place...

*I love how doctors always use the scientific terminology for everything...they should use a British accent too.  It would make it even better!!

Baby Update: 39 Weeks

Size of Baby:  Around 20" long and about the size of a mini watermelon, 7 lbs or so.
Baby Movement:  During the u/s today, Baby was doing log roll (which made it more difficult for the u/s tech to count her practicing breathing and such).  Still head down :-)
Changes in Baby:  Still layering on the fat for those chubby cheeks...taking her precious time in coming out to meet Mommy and Daddy.
Changes in Mama:  My boobs are getting noticeably larger...milk production is in high gear (or so it seems, haha).
Dilation: 1 cm
Current Symptoms:  Major heartburn again.  Shortness of breath.  Can't really complain about much...except waiting......
Funny Tidbit:  I'm thinking about putting warpaint on my face after I go into labor....I feel like I'm ready for the big battle.  Bring it!
Cravings:  Baked potatoes, cereal, orange juice, and water
Aversions:  What's that?  I'm very hungry this last week...
Nesting:  Getting those last minute loose ends all tied up (as much as possible).  Strong urges to clean this or that.
Exciting News:  Signed the first set of papers for the home loan.... shouldn't be long now before we know if we'll get the house or not.  Maternity leave has been great so far :-)
Looking Forward to...:  Having Holly...hellloooooo?! ;-)
Next Appointments:  Sept. 6- prenatal checkup/ Sept. 7- weekly u/s
